Best Creative Art on Instagram this week
Each month, we catalog the best creative art on Instagram shared by various artists, creatives, and curators. We look for Art, Photography, and Multimedia that is extraordinarily unique. Of course there could be hundreds of artwork on this list, but for the sake of time and energy we’re going to look at the top 10.
The criteria is how unexpected they are, the quality of work, and how much engagement they received. We hope that you find inspiration and new fire creatives to bless your feed.
1. “Still in one Piece III” by Johnson Tsang
Tsang is one of the most disruptive sculptors on Instagram. Based in Hong Kong, he creates surreal and emotive sculptors of the human face. Inspired by his lucid dreams, Tsang’s abstract art often depicts otherworldly expressions of human emotion. The piece he shared below provides positive sentiment in a time when we could all use it.
2. “Novempus” by Alex Z
Alex has disturbingly authentic appearing 3D designs. He compiles a combination of professional work with personal projects on his Instagram. In everything he does there is an extreme attention to detail and craftsmanship.
3. “Don’t Forget to Stay Hydrated” by Tatsuya Tanaka
Tatsuya Tanaka is an amazing miniature artist based in Kagoshima Japan. Tanake’s artwork creates a childlike sense of wonder using ordinary household objects. This topical piece was commissioned by the New York Times and creatively shows how his family has been staying cool in a quarantined summer. Not only does Tanaka reveal a captivating end result, but he also shows his creative process from beginning to end.
4. “Man and Woman” by Tamara Kvesitadze
Tamar Kvesitadze is a Georgian sculptor and painter. The love sculpture was designed in 2007, installed in 2010, and recently posted by art page beninmadrid on August 19th. “Man and Woman” is 26 feet tall and inspired by a tragic love story Ali and Nino in which two lovers couldn’t be together. At 7pm every night the sculpture merges for a moment before separating once again.
5. “A Colorful World” by Kefan Weng
Kefan Weng creates surreal worlds that often make you wonder if it’s real or not. Which one of these land rovers are you driving out of the lot in?
6. “Italian Pigeons” by Pablo Rochet
It will be hard not to include Pablo on this list every month, since he has some of most creative art on Instagram. We want to know what his brainstorming sessions look like. Maybe one day we’ll be fortunate enough to interview him about it. In the meantime, enjoy this ridiculously entertaining video of pigeons making pizza.
7. “Zooming onto a hand” by @macrofying
There isn’t a specified artist behind this account, and it’s presumably a small team of creatives. Their videos are always the same: zooming into an object on a molecular level. They’re extremely satisfying to watch, and you will probably watch more than once.
8. “Between Rocks” by Francois Vogel
Francois is another artist with widely shared creative art on Instagram, and he is shaking up the world of new media. His videos often start and finish in a way completely unexpected, even when you think you know what you’re watching. We’ll never get tired of these mind bending graphics.
9. “Tree Trimmer” by Karl Shakur
We’re a big fan of Karl’s adventurous and atmospheric photography here. Shakur takes “whatever it takes for the shot” to another level in this Santa Barbara, California photograph.
10. “Shadow Play” by Kyle Huber
Kyle Huber is a visual designer and self described “obsessive creator.” His obsession is evident through his photography and video work, which are often blended together to create some fantastic visual eye candy. Typically quite simple, Kyle still has a way of captivating a unique perspective.
